If I use a free (which I do not) would probably use Avira Free Edition. Avira is not so bad for a freebie. I am on my PC as a backup and currently disabled. But if I paid ffor program, I would probably go with that. SUPERAntiSpyware is not so bad. I use it exclusively for its ability to scan the registry. SAS, at least, seems fairly decent scan of the registry.
I am referring to AVG 8.0, but after trying some anti-virus programs, I found that BitDefender who could choose more than AVG. The reason is that with the free version you get more than AVG, and if you also buy more stuff.

Avira is a good free antivirus. This is the full version (unlike AVG) and never expire (unlike) to Avast. I use, and no use of system resources and more active exploration.
I prefer avast antispyware, and the protection of residents and a time to start scanning powerful ... and it is free and plays nicely with other programs such as SuperAntispyware .... Cheers
