Does my HP Color Laser reset the page count every time I install new ink? - resetting laser mount on stereo

I have an HP Color Laser 2605th I installed some cheap (bad) and got terrible results of the toner. I only buy 4 new toner cartridges. Do not lose sight of the printing ink used? I want to reinstall the ink, but I fear it will be the last time it was run dry. Does that make sense?
